Worker dies after falling from scaffolding in Nantwich

July 24th, 2019

A fall from scaffolding led to the tragic death of a 53-year-old worker in Nantwich in late June.

The North West Air Ambulance were called to the site of a new housing development, at the former  Stapeley Water Gardens, site and transported the worker via land ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, where he sadly later passed away.

Further details of this incident have yet to be confirmed, however the Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into the tragic accident and the circumstances surrounding the fall.

Work was suspended on site following the incident, with the housing developer releasing the following statement:

“An incident occurred at our Stapeley Gardens development in Nantwich. The person involved was taken to hospital where he tragically passed away. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time. We are working with the HSE who are investigating the incident.”

This tragic accident serves to remind us of the importance of using the appropriate equipment and safety techniques whilst working at height, both of which significantly reduce the risk of accidents of this kind. The SIMIAN team have worked for many years, with businesses worldwide, to ensure that they are using scaffolding safety best practice when working at height, find out more about our training and consultancy services or enquire here.
