Apprenticeships across industries have transformed drastically over the years. These days apprentices are being entrusted with more responsibilities than ever, a critical component to reducing the skills gaps that are plaguing many industries.
For the construction industry in particular, apprenticeship schemes are key to ensuring that the next generation of professionals are trained to the highest standards.
To mark National Apprenticeship Week, which will run from the 3rd to 9th February 2020, the SIMIAN team has been busy planning how we can support this annual event, which adds a great deal of value to both our own apprentices and apprentices across the UK.
At Weston College on 6th February, we will have a stand at their Apprenticeship Open Evening and Careers Opening Evening at their South West Skills Campus. Running from 4pm until 7pm, this is an inclusive event which is open to anyone interested in apprenticeships, particularly those who are due to complete their academic exams this summer and want to progress onto an apprenticeship scheme.
This is a well-attended event year in year out, and provides the opportunity for prospective apprentices to discuss option with course leaders in their chosen area. This is also the opportunity for learners to gain valuable advice and guidance on how to apply for these roles.
Weston College will also be inviting employers that SIMIAN is currently working with, as well as those who wish to recruit apprentices for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to meet potential applicants and showcase their organisation and vacancies.
In addition to this, we are also hosting an apprenticeship fair at the Wembley Jobcentre Plus on 6th February, from 10am to 4pm. This is hosted in partnership with the London Borough of Waltham Forest Council and Dudley College of Technology to promote Advance TECC (Technical Engineering and Construction Centre), which will launch on 20th September.
You can keep an eye on SIMIAN’s National Apprenticeship Week events on Twitter where the hashtags #NAW2020 and #Fireitup will feature heavily, or, if you would like to get involved, come along and meet our expert team!
